The Math Energy Exec Board hopes everyone had a wonderful Winter Break. We wish you all a good Spring Semester and we hope to see you at one of our upcoming meetings. Exact dates and times will be posted when they become available, along with who is presenting.

Final Meeting of the Semester

Tonight will be the final meeting of the semester.

We will be graced with a presentation from Rena Pate tonight at 7pm in the University Ballroom located in the Union.

At the meeting we will also be accepting applications for any vacant seats in the Spring 2012 Executive Board.

Math Energy Meeting: Monday Oct 17, 2011

Our second meeting of the semester will be on Monday, October 17th at 7:00 pm in the University Ballroom.

We are celebrating the 20th anniversary of Math Energy. Come meet some of the people who have made Math Energy the vibrant organization it has become, enjoy some fun math activities, and have some birthday cake!

Please arrive early, registration begins at 6:30 pm. Math Energy dues are $6 per semester. Information about becoming a member can be found here.

Remember that Math Energy is considered a Professional Organization by Eastern Illinois University. Attendance verification will be available for Math Energy members.

Oh the Places You Will Go!

“Using Math Manipulatives and Games as a bridge to Learning”

Last mondays guest speaker was Barbara Jo Evans, an Education Consultant for ETA Cuisenaire. Barbara spoke of using math manipulatives as an innovative way to teach math using shapes, games, and technology. Some of these methods were versatiles, snap cubs,  and the “Happy Meal“.

Math Energy Meeting: September 26, 2011

Our first meeting of the semester will be on Monday, September 26th at 7:00 pm in the University Ballroom.

Math Energy Meeting: April 25, 2011

The final Math Energy meeting of the Spring 2011 semester will be held on Monday, April 25, 2011 in the University Ballroom beginning at 7:00 pm. Dr. Rick Anderson and his students will present on the topic: “Robotics Projects for the Classroom”.

54th Annual Conference on the Teaching of Mathematics

Attendance in one or more sessions at the annual conference on the Teaching of Mathematics will count as one of the two meetings required for Math Energy membership.

Student Registration for the conference is $10. Three 1-hour sessions of talks are planned, running from 8:30 until 12:35. You may register, as well as download the conference schedule, at this website.
